The native of guava is India. It can be grown in both humid and dry climate. The tree can grow up to 33 ft. The fruit seems to be rounded, green, hard. The outer layer consists of thick greem layer. Inside there will be a creamy white fruit, when it is in ripen state. In Chennai this fruit is called as ‘ Goya palam ‘. Mostly birds are attracted by this fruit. Especially parrot and squirrels like this fruit very much. Raw guavas are eaten out-of-hand, but are preferred seeded and served sliced as dessert or in salads. Dehydrated guavas may be reduced to a powder which can be used to flavor ice cream and juices.
